Weekly Update 13 2023/4

3 December 2023 (by admin)

Dear Fairfields Community

We have had a really successful week in school with pupils working hard to achieve their targets in their writing.  We have been really impressed with pupils’ vocabulary which is a particular focus in reading and also through the curriculum.

We are also in the final stages of planning the performances for the Christmas Fair.  Each year group will perform a song.  There will also be performances from Fairfields Band, the Orchestra, Choir and Recorders.  A running order will be sent out early next week!

Bilingual Parent Representatives

We have a group of parents who do an amazing job volunteering as Parent Representatives in the school. They speak a number of languages between them as well as English and they help us to welcome new families to our school, and support parents with any general questions they may have, especially in those early stages of joining Fairfields. Our Parent Representatives are also working with us to think of ideas to celebrate diversity within our school too. If you would be willing to join this group, and in particular if you are bilingual yourself and would be able to help us to welcome other bilingual families to the school, please let Mrs Hopkins or the school office know. Please see our school website under the 'Parents' and 'Parent Representatives' tab for more details.

Activities over the holidays

Kala the arts have extended the date for their workshops over the holiday period. Please see the attached poster for more information.

PTA Updates

Christmas Fair - Thursday 14 December

The countdown is on for the Christmas Fair which is rapidly approaching. We are still looking for some helpers so you're able to volunteer (or perhaps even have an older child that can help on a stall) then please sign-up here: https://fairfieldspta.uk/christmas-fair-volunteer-signup/

Tickets for Santa's grotto and hotdogs (including vegan) need to be purchased ahead of the event so that we know numbers. You can either purchase online or come and see us at our next playground sale before and after school on Friday 8th December (this will be the last chance for advanced sales). You can also make purchases online using the following link: https://fairfieldspta.uk/product-category/christmas-fair/

Please remember to return your raffle tickets in the playground black boxes, stubs and money or any unused tickets. Check out our website with a list of some of the great prizes too that have been donated from local businesses. For anyone who would like some more raffle tickets, these can either be collected from the school office, a member of the PTA or at one of our playground ticket sale days, else drop us an email and we can get some to you.

We would also appreciate donations by year groups based on the guidelines below if possible (please ensure all products are in date past the event date and nothing that contains nuts):
