School Celebrations

Easter Celebrations

Pupils at Fairfields enjoyed the Easter egg hunt around the playground funded by the PTA. It was a sunny afternoon and the children were able to solve the clues and claim their chocolate prize. A big thank you to everyone who took part and to those involved with the organisation.

Eid Celebrations

We enjoyed celebrating Eid with all our families after school this week.

Here is just some of the lovely feedback we received following the event:

'It was a wonderful event, and the kids truly enjoyed it a lot. We really appreciated all the thoughtful details that went into making the day special, especially the Eid songs, which added a lovely and joyful atmosphere'.

'It means a lot to see such inclusivity and effort to celebrate important occasions for the children. Thank you again for creating such a memorable experience'.

Eid Mubarak!

Science week at Fairfields 2026

Fairfields have been enjoying exploring the idea of being curious for this year’s Science Week. We began the week by thinking about what we are curious about and asking questions for other pupils to investigate and answer.

Each class then completed their own curious investigation. Take a look below to see what we have been getting up to!

Here is a booklet with lots of activities you can try at home if you're feeling curious!

Former pupils visit Fairfields

We welcomed Ashcombe House residents, Joan and Roy, to Fairfields last week. They both came to the school in the 1930's. They enjoyed having a tour, meeting the school council for tea and biscuits, and talking to them about what the school was like 90 years ago. We learnt so much from them! See the Basingstoke Gazette link below for more information and photos.

World Book Day 2026

The children and staff had lots of fun dressing up in pyjamas or as one of their favourite book characters on World Book Day. Throughout the week children enjoyed doing different activities to promote reading. One activity they particularly liked was reading with children from a different year group. It was lovely to see children excited about books and to hear the children talking asbout the books they were reading.

Holi Celebrations

Lots of fun was had after school celebrating Holi with a big splash of colour. The children enjoyed spraying coloured paint and creating their own picture designs with paint. A huge thank you to the PTA and other parent volunteers who helped oragnise and resource this event. Eveyone had such a good time and smiling faces could be seen all round.

Chinese Lunar New Year

We enjoyed celebrating Chinese Lunar New Year and welcome in the year of the Horse. Children had fun colouring pictures and took home a lucky envelope with house points. Some children were lucky enough to win 10 house points!

School Athletics

Our school athletics club participated in the 2026 Basingstoke Schools Cross Country Races. We took 12 children across Years 4-6, and they were all excellent representatives of the school. It rained for nearly the entirety of the event, but the pupils still demonstrated their resilience by starting and finishing with beaming smiles on their faces. Well done everyone, we are all so proud of you!

Reindeer Visit

Two reindeer visited the school today, the children (and staff) were very excited and learnt lots of interesting facts. Thank you to the PTA for organising this visit and thank you to parents for helping the school raise money during PTA events which enable the children to have these amazing experiences.

Christmas Choir Performance at Church Cottage and Ashcome House

The school choir were invited to perform Christmas songs at Church Cottage in Basingstoke at their recent community event. The children were amazing, singing for over 50 people who were at the event. The following week, they also visited Ashcombe House, a local residential home, to see to their residents. We had so many comments about how well they sang, as well as how well they behaved. We are very proud of them all.

Amazon Wishlist

We are overwhelmed and humbled by the generosity of the school community with the Amazon wish list which was put together this week. The office bell has not stopped ringing with the next delivery of boxes and parcels! Honestly, we can not thank you enough- it brought us nearly to tears! Budgets are so tight in school and as a staff, like you as parents, all we want is the very best for the children. We are so grateful for your support, not just with this but with everything in school. We are very lucky to have the school community which we have. Thank you so much! And a huge thank you to the PTA for setting this up for us.

School Council visit Ashcombe House residential home

School Council have been for another visit to Ashcombe House to see the residents. This time, the residents taught our pupils how to arrange flowers, and our children played balloon tennis with them too. We had so much fun and it was lovely to see the residents learning from our pupils, as well as our pupils learning from them.

Fairfields Diversity Fair 2025

Thank you to everyone who came along to support the school at the Diversity Fair. We saw lots of amazing dancing from a range of cultures, tasted lots of different food, there were many prizes to be won and children enoyed making sand art and having their faces painted. A big thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success.

Bike Week

It was lovely to see so many children cycling and scooting to school all week. A huge well done to the winners of the Bling Your Bike/Scooter competition. It was a challenge to narrow down the winners as so many children did such a super job decorating their bike or scooter. Take a look at some fantatsic examples.

VE Celebrations

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating VE day. It was lovely to see so many of you sharing a picnic with family and friends. The childen enjoyed completing wordsearches and making their own Spitfire fighter planes.

Time to Shine!

It was lovely to see so many children in bright and reflective clothing today. As a school we understand the importance of being seen, especially during this time of year when the afternoons/evenings get darker at lot earlier. Please wear bright clothing instead of dark clothing during these months.

Remember to be bright to be seen!
