Weekly Update 35

14 July 2023 (by admin)

Dear Fairfields Community,

It has been a busy week in the school, especially for our Year 6 pupils who graduated on Wednesday evening.  Congratulations to all of them for being part of our community and for everything that they have done as pupil leaders.

We will miss their many talents as artists, musicians, sportspeople and future leaders.  They led their final performance on Wednesday evening to their parents- showcasing how amazing they are.  I have no doubts that they will be a huge success in the future.  Please do come and join us on the playground parade on Friday next week to wish them farewell!

We have also finished out stay and play sessions for our Foundation Stage children who are joining us in September.

17 of the 60 children attended 1 session

16 of the 60 children attended 2 sessions

7 of the 60 children attended 3 sessions

15 of the 60 children attended all 4 sessions

This means that 55 children attended at least 1 session and will support them in starting school for the first time in September.

The parent workshops for parents during the stay and play sessions were also popular with the following numbers:

25 attended the RWI workshop (Wednesday)

38 attended the maths workshop (Friday)

29 attended the positive parenting workshop (Wednesday)

37 attended the talking/reading/writing workshop (Friday)

Next week the Foundation Stage team will conduct home visits to meet the children and their families.

School Uniform Swap

Thank you to everyone who donated spare uniform.  This was popular and it is great to support our whole community in this way.  We do have a few items left if anyone was unable to make it.  Please contact the school office and they will coordinate this with you.

Transition Week

We are all looking forward to the transition mornings next week.  The children will have the morning in their new classroom with their new teacher.  Please do support them in the change as it can make some children worried because it is something new.  If possible, focus on things that are exciting and try to model changes as something new to explore as opposed to something to be worried about.

Change to the menu on Monday

The school caterers have had a supply issue and have been sent sausage rolls rather than sausages.  This does mean that these will be served on Monday instead of the sausages on the menu.

PTA Updates

Fairfields Circus and Fair 21st July

Circus Ticket Swap &  Donations

On Wednesday 19th July we will be doing a final Circus ticket swap and sale in the playground at morning drop-off, as well as selling food, drink and stall tokens to avoid queues on the day. If you haven't already picked up your tickets for the Circus on 21st July yet then this is the ideal time to do so. The last remaining tickets to buy are also still available at https://fairfieldspta.uk/product/circus-ticket/

Promote us on Facebook

We'd also appreciate it if people could share our Circus posts on Facebook as this will help drive sales - the more tickets we sell the more money we raise for the school. Our page can be found here: Fairfields Primary PTA | Facebook

Donations

As a reminder, we are also happy to collect the following donations too (please ensure expiry dates are after 21 July) as well as good condition second hand toys.

Year R, Year 1, Year 2: Wrapped Chocolate/Biscuits (no nut)

Year 3, Year 4: New toys/dolls/Alcohol/non-alcohol bottle (for game prizes)

Year 5, Year 6: Alcohol/non-alcohol bottles

Final call for volunteers for Fairfields Circus and Fair 2023.

(All our efforts are for our children to have fun and raise money for our school. So please help)

Thank you to everyone that has signed up to help so far. There are a few more people needed to enable us to run all events. Please visit  https://fairfieldspta.uk/summer-fair-volunteer-sign-ups/ to see the available roles and to sign-up - we'd really appreciate your help.

Volunteers will receive fast track entry to the Circus and a drink/ice cream token.

Have a wonderful weekend and try to stay dry!
