Weekly Update 34

7 July 2023 (by admin)

Dear Fairfields community,

It has been an interesting week in the school with the additional challenges caused by the Industrial action on Wednesday and Friday.  Thank you for your patience and understanding and for making arrangements where needed.  We can only hope that the dispute is settled for the Autumn Term.

We are busy preparing for the final two weeks of school and are keen to make sure that we say farewell to our Year 6 children as well as welcoming our new Foundation Stage children.  Thank you to Rachel O’Connell for a fantastic disco for the Year 6 children – as always, a huge success!

We invite our whole community to say goodbye to the Year 6 children in the playground on the last day of term from 3:15pm as they complete their final parade – a tradition for pupils leaving the school.

Diversity Party

Thank you to everyone who supported the event on Monday.  It is always a proud moment for me to see how we can come together as a community for our children.  Our children are so lucky to be brought up in an environment where differences are celebrated and shared as opposed to seeing them as threats.  It was incredible to learn about all of the different cultures within our school.  Thank you to the parents who attended and prepared resources and food for the event.   Thank you also to Miss Harper and Mrs. Coolbear for organising it and for continuing to promote diversity in the school.

Uniform Swap

On Thursday 13th July we will be holding our uniform swap in the playground.  If you have any good condition uniform you are able to donate, please do send it to school by Wednesday afternoon so that we can organise it for the swap.  Please could you ensure that you only take as much as you need so that as many families benefit from it as possible.

Summer Holiday activities for those entitled to free school meals

Please find attached information about a summer holiday club taking place at a local school which is fully funded if your child is entitled to free school meals.

Library Books

Please could all library books be returned to school as soon as possible.  We will be organizing the library ready for the new year.

Parents Open Evening – Thursday 13th July 3-6pm

Please do come and visit the school on Thursday next week.  Your child will find out who their new teacher is at the end of the day.  This is a time for you to come and meet their new teacher and take time to visit your child’s current classroom to look at the work they have produced over the year.

Parenting Top Tip – coping with change and being the anchor

As we move through a transitional time for your children there will be a level of worry.  We know that change is inevitable and is part of growing older.  How equipped are you as parents to support your child in building their own strategies for life?

Young Minds have released a number of videos to help parents support their child through this.

The first video introduces the idea of parents being an ‘anchor’ through the change.  To watch it click here: https://youtu.be/cjGjUW9rtJk

The second video recognizes the importance of looking after yourself as a parent so that you are able to be the anchor for your child.  To view it, please click here: https://youtu.be/8ZpMS4czrLU

If you need more support over the last few weeks of school, please do come and see Terri or Tracey in the playground in the morning.

Have a lovely weekend!
