Weekly update 31

16 June 2023 (by admin)

Dear parents and carers,

It has been a great week in school with plenty of activities taking place across the school as part of our Art Week.  Each year group will be presenting their artwork on the website for their year group.  This will be available on Monday by 5pm.

Thank you to all of the Staff who have organised visits and also to the parents who volunteer to make this possible!  The purpose of educational visits is to enrich the curriculum in year groups and we hope that your children have deeper understanding as a result.

Communication Update including lost property

We have two meetings to discuss communication in the school on the Wednesday 21st June at 9am (in school) and also on Wednesday 28th June at 1pm on Zoom.

In the meantime, we have made the following changes to support information being more easily available.

  • Almost all communication, aimed at the whole school community, will be sent out on Friday by 5pm as a single email. This includes PTA information. This allows parents to read information over the weekend.
  • One reminder will be sent out prior to an event and approximately 48 hours in advance. There will be no other reminders sent.
  • Lost property notices must be posted by parents using the guestbook facility on:

https://www.fairfields.hants.sch.uk/parentsThese will be visible for parents if they find any additional items brought home.  Every effort must now be made to label all items children bring into school.  We will also purchase class boxes for children to place items in at break and lunchtime on the playground.  These will be where your children line up and you will be able to check these when you collect or drop off your child.  Any items left in the boxes will be thrown away each Monday at 3:45pm.

We hope that this will help to improve communication in the interim.  If you have any further suggestions please do come along to one of the meetings or email them to the school office.

Missing Library Books

We currently have over 200 library books missing from the school library.  Attached is a list of some of the books missing.  Please could you look at home to see if you have them.

  • some traditional food – no nuts please and include ingredients list to display.
  • traditional games or activities demonstrated or for children to complete.
  • photographs of traditional clothing or clothes on display.

If you would like to have a table or join an existing family’s table, please let us know by emailing admin@fairfields.hants.sch.uk

We also have a number of performances taking place at the same time:

  • Fairfields Band
  • Fairfields Choir
  • Bagpipe demonstration
  • Indian dancing (TBC)

If anyone else would like to perform, please do let us know.

Staff retiring

We are sad to say farewell to two devoted members of our school community who are retiring at the end of this academic year.

Mrs Terri Hope has worked at the school for 15 years.  She has been an asset to the school, supporting families through the pandemic and helping to encourage children who find coming to school challenging.

Mrs Annie Baker is also retiring after 26 years at the school.  She has been an incredibly inspiring part of the team and we will miss her magical baking and crafting skills!

We hope that they will continue to visit the school at special events!

On Monday 19th June, from 8.40 till 10, the Primary Behaviour Support Service will be joining us in the cabin on the bottom playground for their last drop in session of the year. We will have refreshments down there and you are all very welcome to come along and talk to the team about any behaviours your child may be displaying which you would like advice and support with.

The parents who have attended previous sessions through the year have found them very useful so please do pop along if you can. It is very informal, and we look forward to seeing you there.
