Weekly Update 13

11 December 2022 (by admin)

Dear parents and carers,

It has been a chilly end to a very busy week!  This update is simply a list of things to celebrate!

Well done to Foundation Stage for their festive production of The Grumpy Sheep.  The children made us all very proud with their confident acting and singing, including their amazing ability to learn the lines.  Well done also to the team in Foundation Stage who have worked hard and overcome a few changes of characters due to sickness.

The incredible Christmas Fair on Wednesday helped us all get into the spirit of Christmas!  Thank you so much to the PTA for hosting such a fantastic event!  The atmosphere was wonderful and the children enjoyed performing to their parents.  Thank you to everyone who attended the event and to parents, pupils (including past) and staff who gave up their time to help raise funds for the school.

We have also had an astonishing donation of £800 from Waitrose after Ruby’s Mum nominated us!  A massive thank you to her for her support!   Choir sang carols this afternoon and were there to help accept the cheque!  Well done to choir members for continuing to shine and perform regardless of weather and locations.  We hope that you will come and join us in the top playground after school on Friday to sing carols and celebrate the end of term!

Another celebration was from our Fairfields Netball Team as they played their first match this week against St. Marys Junior School. The children played incredibly despite the cold weather and having only trained as a team since September. We were so proud of their brilliant team work, resilience and determination, and we were delighted that they came away with a 2-1 win to Fairfields. Well done Isla, Mark, Lilian, Gaby and Fatma. You were amazing!

I will continue to keep an eye on the weather over the next twelve hours and make plans based on the conditions.  Please do take care when travelling to school in the morning.  Children may wear their wellies to school and can change in their classrooms.  On Friday we opened a cold play room and the library for children to stay inside at lunchtime, if they become cold.  Packed lunches will now be eaten in a nominated classroom until the weather warms up.  Please remember that we will be serving Christmas Dinner on Thursday this week along with it being our Christmas Jumper Day.  Children can wear a jumper instead of the green uniform one on this day.

Finally, we will continue with the shorter gap between the two drop off and collection times.  Please do communicate with as many parents as you can about the new times as some parents did not know the times had changed as a trial last week.

Foundation Stage, Years 1 and 2: 8:40am Drop off and 3:10pm Collection.

Years 3,4,5 and 6: 8:45am Drop off and 3:15pm Collection.

Have a wonderful rest of your weekend.
