Happy Holidays

8 August 2022 (by admin)

Dear parents and carers,

I hope you are all enjoying your holidays and have taken time to relax.  The end of the academic year seems a long time ago, but I wanted to say how amazing our Year 6 pupils are and how much I miss them already!

Well done to the Year 6 children who attended the residential at Ufton Court in the last week of term.  During my time there each morning, I saw how close they were as a team and how well they supported one another.  Thank you to Miss Warwick, Mrs Dawson, Miss Rees, Mrs Rham and Mr Thorpe for taking on the responsibility and care for the children for the whole period.  Thank you also to Mr Mardell who came each morning to cover the groups with myself during the transition times in school.

The end of the residential was marked with the Graduation.  This was a time to celebrate the achievements of the children as well as the incredible contribution the year group gave to the school.  We will miss them all!

For key dates for next year, please download the overview document on the calendar page: https://www.fairfields.hants.sch.uk/calendar-1

New Library at Fairfields

As the holidays roll on, we are in the process of renovating the library area to create a forest-themed library.  This will be a centre-piece for the school with a tree house and raised areas for the children to read in.  We will be holding an official opening of the library in the second week of term to invite parents to view this area.  The funding for the project came from the schools’ capital grant as well as a donation from the PTA.

Thank you to our School Community

A massive thank you to all of the volunteers who have supported the school over the year.  We rely on parent helpers to aid us in class and also on visits.  This all helps towards us becoming collectively brilliant.

A particular thanks goes to Jane Dennis, a long-standing governor in the school who will be leaving us.  Her contribution to the school has been significant in her both role as Safeguarding governor and also in her undertaking of various monitoring activities over the past five years.

Thank you to all of the parents who continue to give support, advice and feedback to us.  We can only become brilliant together and I appreciate our parent community, including the response to all of the events that have taken place this year.

Finally, I am so grateful to all of the staff who continue to work alongside me in the school.  There have been some challenging times this year with staff shortages due to COVID, increased pressure with statutory testing and also the demands of working in an ever changing climate.  The school would not function as well without the dedication and commitment of everyone in it.  I am incredibly lucky to have a positive and forward-thinking team working with me!

Have a wonderful rest of your summer and I will see you in school on Monday 5th September.

Yours sincerely

Miss Kelly Dillon
