Weekly Update 16

4 February 2022 (by admin)

Dear parents and carers,

We are pleased to say that the majority of our staff have returned to school throughout this week.  It has been a huge team effort to keep the school functioning over the last few weeks and thank you so much for being so patient with us.  This does mean that football, rugby, netball and choir club will restart next week.

It was wonderful to have celebrated Chinese New Year in the school on Tuesday afternoon.  Thank you to Mr Wei, Mrs Barnes and Mrs Wang for all of their help in preparing for the event.  Thank you also to Tracey who choreographed the Dragon Dance with pupils from Years 3 and 4.

Our newly established reporters, Flynn and Noah, in Year 5, have covered the story in their first edition of ‘The Weekly School’.  I have attached this for you to read.

Parents Evening 1st and 2nd March

Parents evening will be held on Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd March.  This will be online via Zoom.  You will be able to book a time slot with your child’s teacher from 5pm on Monday 7th February.  Please let us know if you do not have access to a computer or internet and we may be able to arrange a face-to-face appointment.

A pack will be sent home on Friday 18th February with details for the meeting.

COVID Update

Most of the pupils have also returned to school this week and we will then continue with the planned curriculum from next week onward.  We will continue to keep some measures in school to prevent the spread, but will not insist that all staff wear masks.

Parent Workshop Tuesday 8th February 6pm:  What are MyOn and Accelerated Reader and how can it help my child?

We are holding a Zoom meeting to show you how to use MyOn at home and explain how we use Accelerated Reader at school. The Zoom code you will need is below.

Meeting ID: 993 2376 2002

Passcode: 881205

Please do come along as we will be setting challenges for children to complete at home using this.

Children’s Mental Health Week

Next week will be Children’s Mental Health Week.  Throughout the week, we will be taking part in activities including ‘Start your day in a positive way’ and other mindful activities.  We will also look at how we can be safe online to promote mental wellbeing.  There is a Relaxed Kids session for parents on Friday to help teach strategies we use in school.  Further details have been sent out separately.  Please do sign up for this!

World Book Day – Thursday 3rd March

We are busy planning for World Book Day on the 3rd March.  We invite pupils and staff to dress up on this day as either their favourite book character or a character from a book they have read in the last year.  More information will be sent out to parents next week.

Finally, a reminder that we are continuing to celebrate any achievements of children outside of school.  Please do keep sending these in!

Have a happy weekend.
