Back to School Arrangements

3 September 2021 (by admin)

Friday 3rd September 2021

Dear parents and carers,

I hope that you have had a wonderful summer holiday and are looking forward to returning to school on Monday.

I am writing to update you on the arrangements for the start and end of school and to clarify COVID control measures in the school.

Our focus for the first few weeks will be in supporting children’s mental health and wellbeing in returning to school.   The last two training days have provided us with an opportunity to review the School Development Plan and also look at how we manage behaviour in the school to support children’s emotional development.

Building Update

You will notice that the outside of the school has finally been decorated.  This includes new murals on the wall and photographs on the windows.

The planning permission has been granted for the cabin and we are waiting for a construction date.  For now, this area is not in use and the cabin is being stored in the cycle shelter.  This does mean that children will not be able to store their bikes or scooters at school until the cabin has been built.

You will also notice that the canopy has had sides installed.  This is for children to use during the day and for children who have packed lunches in Years 3 -6.  Please can parents not use this area in the morning or after school as this will be for Year 3 and 6 pupils before and after school.

Arrangements for the start and end of the day

8:40am – The class will enter the building at 8:45am

Foundation Stage will meet their teachers in their fenced garden.

Year 2 will be met by their teacher in the usual place and led through Freddies room to the classroom.

Year 4 will meet their teacher on the top playground and will then enter the school.

Year 6 will meet their teacher under the canopy.

These children will be collected from the same point as above at 3:10pm

8:50am – The class will enter the building at 8:55am

Year  1 will meet their teacher on the top playground and will then enter the school via the canopy.

Year 3 will meet their teacher under the canopy with the classes going in before the Year 1 children walk round.

Year 5 will meet their teacher on the bottom playground and be led through Freddies’ room door to go to their classroom.

These children will be collected from the same point as above at 3:20pm

If you are driving to the school and are using a car parking space in the area, please can we ask that you park safely and consider that other people may need that space to collect their child.

Although our community are feeling more confident than previously, there may still be members of the school who are shielding for other reasons.  If you feel uncomfortable or worried, please do find a space in the playground and the teacher will look out for you.  You can also wear a face mask, although this is not compulsory.

Coronavirus Update

The Department for Education (DFE) have provided guidance for schools which includes a focus on the importance of continuing control measures, such as hand washing and maintaining bubbles within school.

We will be allowing pupils in Year 1,2 and Foundation Stage to mix at break times and for singing assembly.  We will also be mixing pupils in Years 3,4 and 5.  Year 6 will mix with the other pupils on occasions but will mostly have break times on their own.

The DFE have also encouraged schools to ask parents to keep children at home if they are feeling unwell. Even if they do not have COVID-19 symptoms or their COVID-19 test is negative, they may still have an illness which could be passed on to other people.

We will also be asking parents to provide evidence of a negative test if their child displays symptoms of COVID.  We recognise that this may be due to a previous cold, but we need to keep the school community safe.  To help with this, please could households continue regular rapid flow testing and report any positive cases to the school.

We will contact Public Health England when we have a confirmed case and take their advice regarding who will need to isolate.

New Foundation Stage Parents

We are really looking forwards to seeing you in school from Monday.  We will also be re- organising the parent sessions, which were originally booked for the last week of term.  These will be a time for you to meet other parents, learn about how we teach reading, phonics, writing and mathematics in the school.

These will now take place on the following dates between 9:00 – 10:30am:

Wednesday 8th September

Thursday 9th September

Friday 10th September

Please make your way to the canopy area on the playground at 9am where we will meet you.

I look forward to seeing you all on Monday 6th September.

Kind regards

Miss Kelly Dillon
