Mrs Janet Wythe

10 December 2020 (by admin)

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are sorry to inform you that Mrs Wythe, one of our lunchtime supervisors who has worked at the school for 25 years, sadly passed away at the weekend.

Her family wanted to pass on the following message to the school community:

After a month stay in hospital it is with a sad heart to say that our mum, Janet Wythe, passed away with heart failure.  Our mum absolutely loved Fairfields School and retirement was defiantly not in her mind.  She loved all the staff, her work colleagues and especially all the children.  She loved nothing more than to play games with them, help them if they were hurt, laugh with them and give them all of her kindness.’

Our thoughts are with Janet’s family and friends at this sad time.

We will be speaking to the children about Janet’s death tomorrow with guidance material from the bereavement charity ‘Simon Says’ but wanted to inform you in advance so that you can talk to your child beforehand if you prefer.

When someone, dies, their family and friends have lots of feelings- sadness, anger, confusion- which are all normal. We will let the children know that we will try to answer their questions if they have any in school. If you would like access to some material which may help you to answer any of your child’s questions at home, Simon Says is a Hampshire based charity which support bereaved children and young people and have some useful resources available. Their contact details are: Telephone 02380 647550, email info@simonsays.org.uk or visit their website www.simonsay.org.uk.

Janet loved working at Fairfields and we have many fond memories of her, and I am sure that those of you who knew her did too. We are in contact with her family and have passed on our condolences to them at this difficult time.

Kind regards

Mrs Hopkins and Miss Dillon
