COVID-19 Update

12 November 2020 (by admin)

Dear parents and carers,

Apologies for starting the day with this message.  We have heard from our local Secondary schools that they are beginning to see positive cases of COVID in their settings.

We are now putting together a plan to ensure that we are prepared for a potential period of isolation for groups of pupils and adults in our school.  This plan will be sent out tomorrow for you via email and School Jotter.

As a community we now need to tighten up on social distancing rules.  Please can we ask for the following to be adhered to:

  1. Please only arrive at school for your child’s drop off and pick up time.  Please do not arrive early or late.
  2. Please ensure that only one person from the family drops off and collects unless multiple siblings need additional supervision.
  3. Please do not use the playground as a cut through unless you are dropping off or collecting.
  4. Please return home as soon as you have dropped off or collected your child. We are aware that there are some parents who are spending longer than necessary on the playground or around the school.  Please do not do this.
  5. All messages now need to be emailed to the school at admin@fairfields.hants.sch.uk or via the guestbook on the website. These will be sent to the teachers throughout the day.
  6. Please do not stand or approach the line of children in the playground unless you have a specific reason for this. Please drop off/ collect your child and leave the playground and neighbouring area immediately.
  7. If possible, please wait in your car with any other siblings.
  8. Please allow Year 5 and 6 pupils to be left in the playground where possible. Please do not leave children in Year 4 and below in the playground until the teachers are present.  We will now ask for teachers to be present 2 minutes earlier.  It is likely that if you arrive five minutes after your time slot, they will have already entered the building.

This will help us to keep all of the community safe.  It is clear that the virus is transmitted more easily between adults.  We cannot afford for any staff member to be put at risk.  Please do not pass on messages through the adults on the gate as they are there to ensure that the drop off and collection times run smoothly.

We apologise that we are not able to spend the time talking to you in the playground, but we must insist that this is in place for at least the next few weeks.  Please could we work together as a community and not rely on school staff to police the above actions.

Kind regards
