Opened in 1887, Fairfields Primary is the oldest school in Basingstoke, Hampshire. Parents, grandparents and great grandparents all have fond memories of their time at our school.
Everything that we do is based on our four Core Values; Love, Respect, Honesty and Celebration. Our aim is develop resilient and confident children who are highly skilled and able to adapt to an ever changing landscape. These are also outlined below. For that reason, we have written a unique curriculum based on real experiences and high quality literature.
The pupils at our school play a huge part in school improvement. Our School Council consists of pupils in every year group who are voted in by their peers and who help to shape the direction of the school. Please see our School Council page with updates of their latest priorities.
Finally, we work closely with parents who have taken the decision to invest in our school by enrolling their children. We believe that parents are the most crucial element of providing an effective team around a child and we therefore expect them to be involved in school life, at every level.
To prepare the children of today to thrive and meet the challenges of tomorrow, by developing independence and resilience through a forward thinking and evolving curriculum, proudly reflecting our diverse community, inspiring and celebrating all achievements.
We are a vibrant, diverse and inclusive community, fostering a culture of learning and resilience, through a creative and pupil-centered curriculum where children are encouraged to take risks and learn from their mistakes, all within a supportive environment.
Each year we develop an action plan to improve areas identified from a range of information including performance data. Please visit our 'School Development Priorities' page under the 'Parents' tab on the website to learn about our school development plan for this year and the review of last year.
We are looking forward to welcoming you to our Christmas Fair tomorrow 4.30-7.30pm. Due to the weather the fair will be inside the school only. We have attached the layout so you can have a look what is on offer and where to find it.
If you have bought tickets online, you will be able to collect this in the main hall. You also can buy (cash or card) more tokens to use for games, activities, food and drink at the same stand. Please bring some cash for the Year 6 game and some Market Stalls that do not take card payment.
The raffle draw will be at 7.15pm and you can still drop off raffle tickets or buy more with cash tomorrow.
We hope you all have a fantastic time!
Following on from the PTA update regarding changes to the Christmas Fair with the weather which is expected tomorrow, unfortunatley we will need to cancel the year 5 dance performance which was going to be on the playground as we do not have enough space inside to accommodate this dance. We apologise but will find a time at another point to show this dance to parents as I know the children were excited. All other performances will be in the hall at the times advertised. Please can your children be in the hall 5 minutes before their slot.
Many thanks for your support.
This coming Tuesday 10th December will be the final School Choir session of 2024! There will be no School Choir on 17th December. Choir will resume again as normal in January. We need this final session to be one last practise before our Carols visit to Ashcombe House Care Home on Monday 16th December. If you haven't yet returned your form (on the letter that went home yesterday/today), please could you return it to school as soon as possible. Thank you! Mr Bambridge
