Further plans for school closure

18 March 2020 (by admin)

Dear Fairfields Community,

The Government announced earlier today that the school should be closed to a number of pupils from the 23rd March.  The school should however, stay open to pupils of key workers and pupils who are the most vulnerable.  We understand that this will help to support the running of the country and also to ensure that other members of the community receive the care that they need.

We have been advised that a further list clarifying the term 'Key Workers' will be released by the Education Secretary tomorrow.  For that reason, please can we ask for some time to construct a plan.  The leadership team and governing body will meet, throughout the day tomorrow, to discuss the plan.

They will then meet and discuss the plan with school staff at 3:30pm.  All clubs apart from Freddies will be cancelled tomorrow so that the majority of staff can meet.

We will then be in a position to release the plan to the whole school community by 5pm via email and the school website.

Please could we ask for your patience and understanding as we make sense of the message given today.

Once we have received the list of Key Workers tomorrow, we will be asking parents to complete a survey online to establish how many children will be attending school.

Please can we ask that you complete this as quickly as possible after this has been sent out.

We will not be able to answer questions about the plans until after at least 5pm tomorrow.

Members of the school leadership team will be on the playground from 8:40am on Friday 20th March to answer questions and explain the arrangements to be put into place from Monday onward.

Thank you again for all of the support and kind messages we have received.

Kind regards

Miss Kelly Dillon
