Happy New Term!

13 January 2020 (by admin)

We have had a great first week back and the children have settled in really quickly to the new term.  We hope that you have enjoyed getting back into the routine again and that your children have been telling you about their new topics.

This term we are focusing on our core value of Love.  We have talked in assembly about how to show love towards others, including different types of love.  We have talked with the younger children about whether we should show the same love towards their family members and people who they may know a little bit e.g. a neighbour, teacher or postman.

With the older children, we have talked about having kindness in our hearts and the importance of thinking good things about ourselves and others.  Often we focus on not hurting and in showing kindness; without really looking at how we feel about ourselves.  Please do talk to your children about the things they like about themselves; what they think they are good at and how they look after themselves.

We will also be celebrating achievements outside of school, during assemblies on Friday.  If your child has achieved something in the last month and going forward, please do let them bring in a photograph to share on a Friday only.  This will not take place during class assemblies due to timing.

We look forward to continuing to improve the teaching and learning in the school, especially leading up to the tests taking place in May and June in some year groups.  Please do ensure that you do not take your children out of school during term time as this does disrupt their learning and our assessment of them.  You will find out more about your child’s progress during Parents Evening on the 25th and 26th February and so please note these dates in your diary.
