Weekly Update 16

20 January 2023 (by admin)

Dear parents and carers,
It has been another fantastic week despite the freezing temperatures!  Thank you to everyone who donated or bought toys in School Council's toy sale this afternoon.  They made £123.80 which will go towards the playground equipment.
Industrial Action
You may be aware from media coverage that the National Education Union (NEU) have declared proposed strike action, that will affect all schools.
the dates for potential strike action have been announced as:
01 February 2023
02 March 2023
15th and 16th March

The strike is happening because of a national dispute between unions and the government over pay.  It is also about funding for schools and not because of any issues within our individual school.

I would like to give you as much notice as possible that learning may be disrupted on the above dates and that you may wish to may alternative childcare arrangements in the event that the proposed strike dates go ahead.

We have made the decision to prioritise Year 6 pupils as they have their exams in May.  Mrs Hopkins and Miss Dillon will teach them if their teachers are not in school.

I am sorry about the potential disruption to you and to your child's education.  I understand that this situation may be frustrating, and ask that all members of our school community continue to treat each other with respect and reflect our core values.  We recognise our teachers' legal right to participate in industrial action whilst remaining committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our pupils.

I am working closely with our staff to keep up to date with the situation, and I will inform you of the final arrangements as soon as possible.

OFSTED report

We are excited to share the final report following our inspection in December.  Thank you to everyone who has helped to make our school brilliant.  The Inspectors could see how much we have done to support the community since the pandemic and feel that personal development is outstanding.

Finally, please do have a wonderful weekend and keep warm!

Miss Kelly Dillon
