Weekly Update 2

20 September 2022 (by admin)

Dear parents and carers,

We have had a great two weeks in school with the children really working hard and showing excellent attitudes towards their learning.  We will continue to share our Core Values with them through our assemblies.

Parents on the playground

We have received positive feedback about the parking around the school.  The wardens have commented on the number of parents who are now using the Caston Road car park.  Thank you to all of the parents who are doing this!

Please also remember:

  • Only children in Years 5 and 6 should be on the playground without a parent. This is because they may leave the site if something happens, they become upset or have an accident.  We will contact parents who have not arranged adequate child care for their child.  Staff are not in the playground to supervise children until their class drop off time.
  • Children need to wear a cycle helmet if they are travelling to school on a scooter or bike. This is to protect them from concussion if they fall while travelling at speed.  I have spoken to many parents about this but there still seems to be children travelling on scooters without helmets.  This is unsafe and puts your child at risk of serious head injuries.
  • Parents should not stand under the main canopy as this prevents access in and out of the school. This should only be accessed for the lost property.
  • Children should not play on the equipment. The equipment is to be used by pupils at break and lunchtime only as we need to sustain the condition of the equipment for as long as possible.  The ropes are beginning to break by the wooden joint due to the age and excessive use.

Winter Funding

We have been allocated a sum of money to help support families who are struggling with energy bills, uniform costs or food costs.  Please do let us know if you need support for this.  We understand that the cost of living has increased rapidly over the last few months and that some people may be experiencing short-term financial difficulties.  Please note, this does not go on your child’s record.

Spring Art Competitions

We have a number of framed art competition entries which have not been collected or purchased.  The money raised will go towards the new playground equipment.  If the remaining frames are not collected, the art work will be taken out and sent home by Friday.  Please see the dedicated page on our website for more information.  Please note that some of the artwork may have been sold but we will let you know.
