Weekly update 3

8 October 2021 (by admin)

Dear parents and carers,

We have had a great week at school and finally the staff who were isolating or who were positive are returning to school.  Thank you for continuing to work with us by keeping your child off school if they are unwell.  The number of positive cases over the last ten days is as follows:

Parents Evenings

We are moving forward with our school development priorities for the year and we are starting to assess the children in preparation for target setting.  The Parents’ Evening on November 3rd and 4th will be a time where we will share these targets with you.  We will be holding the evening using a mixture of Zoom and face-to-face meetings.  These will available to book from the 15th October using our Scopay system.  Please contact the school office if you are unable to access this system as you may need a new login.

Absence Requests

Since returning to school in September, I have received a number of requests for absence.  Please can I reinforce that children need to be at school during term time; especially after the lost teaching time due to the pandemic.

I am unlikely to authorise absence to enable families to visit relatives overseas, as there are 11 weeks of holiday where this can take place.  I hope you understand that we are under pressure to demonstrate, to the government, what we are doing to enable pupils to catch up the lost education.  If I authorise holiday time, I am undermining everything we are trying to do in school.

Date for your Diaries

Please do come and visit the school on the 22nd October from 2-3pm.  We will be sharing our learning about food, including artwork and music.  The event will involve you walking around the school and visiting classrooms.  For that reason, please avoid bringing pushchairs, as these will need to be stored in the playground.  Please come to the front entrance at 2pm and sign in on the clipboard.  We look forward to seeing you.

Finally, we are nearly full in the school, having only 1 space available.  Thank you to all of our school community who have spread the word about everything we are doing.  We currently have 71 children on our waiting list for spaces in the school.  This is something that we are really proud of!

Have a wonderful weekend!
