Weekly Update 2

1 October 2021 (by admin)

Dear parents and carers,

It has been a challenging week in the school with the increase in cases and the shortage of staff, but we have made it through!

Thank you for continuing to support the school community by only sending your child to school if they are well.

We are still awaiting results of tests for adults and children.  We hope to see these numbers decline over the next few weeks.  Please continue to only send your child into school if they are well.

In other news, we finished this week with our assembly on prayer.  Whilst the 27 Muslim children experienced their first prayer session in school- the rest of the children spent time looking at similarities between different religions and in how they worship.  It ended with the whole school taking time to think about what they were grateful for and to think about anyone who is unwell or in need.  I have attached the slides that we looked at in discussing types of worship.   I have also attached some of the photographs taken.

Well done to Hamza in Year 6 for leading the prayer and also to his father and Mrs Elsayed for preparing the room.

Please do contact Miss Dillon if you have any suggestions on how we can incorporate any other traditions from other religious groups in the school timetable or if you would like to help organise whole school events for religious festivals.

PE Uniform

The next delivery of uniform will be available to collect 3:15 - 3:45 on Tuesday afternoon from the top playground.  These are for orders placed in August.

Liss Sport have agreed to reprint the jogging bottoms for any parents who have found that the logo has peeled off.  They have found that by double pressing it, the logo stays on.

Please could these be dropped off at the same time in the box in the playground.  Please ensure that the actual jogging bottoms have your child's name written on the tag so that they can be returned.

Thrive Cabin

We are excited to have finally have the cabin built in the bottom playground.  This will be where our Thrive sessions take place throughout the day and will also be a place where children can go if they need someone to speak to at lunchtime.  Mrs Roe-Gilby will be based in the cabin throughout lunchtime with games and activities for children to play.

However, we do still have work to do before this can happen.  Thank you to Mr Perrett who has kindly offered to help to plaster the cabin for us.  We are also looking for any help with flooring.  This could be carpet tiles, lino or laminate flooring.  If there are any parents with links to flooring companies, please let Paul Mardell (Site Manager) know through the school office.

Cycling/ Scooting to school

As the cabin has been built, we are now able to store bikes and scooters for children who use these to and from school.

Please remember that children must wear a cycle helmet if they are cycling or scooting to school.

This is to help protect them when they are moving at speed.  We will ask you to take your scooter or bike home if your child is not wearing one.

Music Videos for last term

Apologies for not sending these out sooner.  The are very large files and so it may mean that these are sent next week as a onedrive shared file.

Finally, have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing you next week.
