Weekly Update 1

10 September 2021 (by admin)

Dear Parents and carers,

We have had a fantastic first week back to school!  The children have returned highly motivated and excited about their lessons and I do hope that they have shared this with you.

We have also had our first week of mornings with our new Foundation Stage children.  Thank you to the parents for attending the workshops and for working with your child to help them settle in school as quickly as they have.

During the training days last week, the staff looked at ways we could make playtimes as exciting as possible.  The work that has taken place this week has been outstanding.  The children have really enjoyed playtimes this week and especially the opportunities that the staff have provided.  Sarah and Steve have also been working with the children to make lunchtimes as active as possible.  This work will continue throughout the year.

Attendance Update

We have seen a number of children arriving and being collected late.  Please ensure that you arrive in the times allocated below:

8:40am – The class will enter the building at 8:45am

Foundation Stage will meet their teachers in their fenced garden.

Year 2 will be met by their teacher in the usual place and led through Freddies room to the classroom.

Year 4 will meet their teacher on the top playground and will then enter the school.

Year 6 will meet their teacher under the canopy.

These children will be collected from the same point as above at 3:10pm

8:50am – The class will enter the building at 8:55am

Year  1 will meet their teacher on the top playground and will then enter the school via the canopy.

Year 3 will meet their teacher under the canopy with the classes going in before the Year 1 children walk round.

Year 5 will meet their teacher on the bottom playground and be led through Freddies’ room door to go to their classroom.

These children will be collected from the same point as above at 3:20pm

COVID update- Close contacts who are not required to self-isolate

We have received further advice from Hampshire County Council about whether whole groups of children should isolate when a positive case is confirmed in their bubble.  Their advice is as follows in relation to close contacts:

You are no longer required to self-isolate if you are notified you have had close contact with someone with COVID-19 and any of the following apply:

  • you are fully vaccinated (meaning that you have been vaccinated with an MHRA approved COVID-19 vaccine in the UK, and at least 14 days have passed since you received the recommended doses of that vaccine.
  • you are below the age of 18 years 6 months
  • you have taken part in or are currently part of an approved COVID-19 vaccine trial
  • you are not able to get vaccinated for medical reasons.

This means that students who are under the age of 18 years and 6 months or older students who are fully vaccinated can still attend the educational setting if identified as a close contact. However, it is recommended to get a PCR test if the child is over 5 years old and to avoid anyone who is extremely clinically vulnerable during the ten days following their last close contact with the case.

Have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing you in school on Monday!
