Weekly Update

11 July 2021 (by admin)

Dear Parents and carers,

We have two weeks to go until the end of the year and there is still so much to look forward to!  On Friday 16th July, we will be holding a music assembly in the morning at 10:30am.  This will be an opportunity to share with you some videos of the children who have been learning the guitar, violin, keyboard or recorder!  We are so proud of the children for continuing to practice through the lockdown and they have quickly transitioned from zoom teaching to face to face more recently.

Parents of children who have lessons can attend the assembly using the following Zoom code:

Meeting ID: 945 3680 5072

Passcode: 73886

Please ensure that you put your child’s name in when you log in as we will only let these parents in.

It is always a time of mixed feelings as we welcome our new September children in Foundation Stage, in their stay and play sessions, and we also say goodbye to our Year 6 pupils.  As well as children who are leaving at the end of the year; we also have a number of adults.

Over the last two years I have worked with the Senior Leaders to look at staffing across the school including Lunchtime Supervisory Assistants and also the IT Technician.  Earlier this year, the decision was made to make the role of Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant redundant.  This was In line with the new approach we have introduced with Thrive activities and also due to the increasingly complex needs of our children.

Children will still have supervision at lunchtime but this will be by their class Learning Support Assistant, whose contracts have been adapted.  Our aim will be to improve the quality of play at lunchtimes and reduce conflict by someone who works regularly with the class each day.

This does mean that we need to say goodbye to the following people who make up the team of Lunchtime Supervisory Assistants:

Debbie

Julie

Jill

Jo

Nina

Natasha

Hayley

Caroline

I have asked that the children make cards to show their appreciation for the time and energy they have given us over so many years!

Another farewell goes to Mr Wright, our IT Technician.  The decision to move towards improving the quality of teaching of the computing curriculum means that we have sought a qualified teacher who can teach alongside class teachers.

We also have Mrs Stanley, a Learning Support Assistant, who is retiring at the end of the year.

Finally, I will soon be sharing with you the time for your meet the teacher session.  This will be a chance for you to find out about your child’s curriculum, timetable and the expectations in September.  Please keep an eye out of the next few days for the time for the online session.

You will also find out which days your child will need to wear their PE uniform.  Please remember that this is compulsory in September next year.  However, pupils should come to school wearing a plain white polo shirt and black shorts or tracksuit bottoms if they are not wearing the official green PE top.  Depending on the timetable each term, this could be 1 or 2 days a week.

The link to order the PE uniform is as follows:

The deadline has now been extended to the 16th July.

Thank you for your continued support.
