Weekly Update

27 June 2021 (by admin)

Dear parents and carers,

It has been a great week for the weather – which is slightly frustrating!  However, we are all really looking forward to Healthy Lives week next week.  Please remember that pupils can come to school in active wear each day and that our Sports Day is on Wednesday 30th June.

A number of parents have asked when the PE uniform becomes compulsory.  From September 2021, pupils can wear either the PE T-shirt (new or old style) or a plain white polo-shirt.  Pupils must wear suitable footwear and plain black shorts or tracksuit bottoms i(f not the PE uniform ones).  The PE uniform will then become compulsory in September 2022.  The deadline for ordering the PE uniform to arrive in time for September is the 12th July.  Please remember to order the correct House colour for your child.

In other news, you may have noticed a new voice on the end of the phone if you have recently called the school.  We have appointed Lisa Smith who will be working every afternoon as our new receptionist.  She has already made a good impression with our new parents who will be joining Foundation Stage in September.

We are currently in the process of planning transition week for the final week of term.  This does mean that pupils will be taught by their new teacher for the mornings and returning to their existing teacher.  At the same time, we will be hosting our yearly stay and play sessions for our new intake.  We are finalising the staffing for next year and the new structure will be sent home to parents on the 16th July.  Children will be told which class they are in on the following Monday as part of the transition week.

Finally, I would like to say a massive thank you to the parents who helped with the Foundation Stage trip to Finkley Down Farm.  We rely on parent volunteers to run offsite visits, especially for the younger children.  Thank you for all of your support and also to the parents who have started to listen to children read in school.

I look forward to seeing everyone in school on Monday.
