Weekly Update

9 May 2021 (by admin)

Dear Parents and carers,
The weeks are moving so quickly and we have so much still to do before the end of the half term!  Thank you for conitnuing to engage with the school through completing homework and reading with your child.  Please check that your child comes to school with a waterproof jacket next week, as it is due to rain at times.
By the end of this week, your child in Year 2 -6 will have had an opportunity to log onto a new online reading system we have bought for the school.  This is called MYon.  You will find details of this in the homework books and also on our website at: https://www.fairfields.hants.sch.uk/latest-news/school-library
Our aim over the summer term is to increase the amount of reading pupils are doing both in and out of school.  This is one way that we aim to do this.  Please do attend the Parent Information Workshop on Wednesday 12th at 6pm.  This will take place on Zoom and the code will be sent out over the next few days.
We will be waiting for the announcement as to the next stage of the lift of the lockdown before we make plans for afterschool clubs and other whole school events.  We will then be meeting as a governing body to review our risk assessment and review arrangements for bubbles, staggered starts and finish and also mixed afterschool clubs.  We will also be looking at how we can run a COVID-safe Sports Day.  Please bear with us while this is reviewed - we also want things to go back to as normal as possible!
Finally, we have had a few esafety issues regarding the use of Tik Tok and Utube.  This is mainly with older pupils who are not monitored as closely as younger children.  Please can ask parents to continue to have conversations with their children about the use of the internet.  Please also check to see whether your child has been able to bypass your filer using a remote server.  This has been found used in school with older pupils and we are also aware that other children may have learnt the same trick through watching the utube clip.
We look forward to another great week at school!
Best wishes
