Weekly Update

3 May 2021 (by admin)

Dear Parents and carers,

Happy Bank Holiday Monday – I hope you have been able to stay warm and dry.

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the parents evening last week.  The virtual meetings seem to be successful and we may offer both options next year.  I also hope that the pack sent home on Monday was useful and showed you examples of work from the year.

Since returning from the lockdowns we have continued to track the children’s progress in the school and have found certain areas that have been affected.  In particular, the progress in reading has not been as high as expected.  To help with this, we will be launching a range of initiatives to help encourage more reading in and out of school.  There will be more information being released over the next few weeks.  This will include a range of workshops for parents.  Please look out for these on the calendar and also via the Jotter APP.  There are also changes to the homework where we will be tracking pupils who are not reading at home to see if we can support them further.

Finally, we are continuing to review our risk assessments to manage the risk of coronavirus in the school.  This does include the use of facemasks in the playground before and after school during pick up and collection times.  We have not made it mandatory to wear face masks as the playground is outdoors and parents and carers are able to maintain social distancing.  Please do continue to respect the personal space of parents waiting and ensure that your children stay immediately next to you in the playground.  Please ensure that you arrive at the time and avoid arriving early or staying after to congregate in the playground.

I look forward to seeing you back in school tomorrow morning!

Thank you again for your continued support.
