Friday Challenge

25 February 2021 (by admin)

Dear parents and carers,

It has been a fantastic week back at school, including incredible achievements during the maths day today.  Well done to everyone for taking part and for working so hard to score so highly and win the colours back.

Thank you to Miss Warwick for organising the day and for helping to make the final weeks of zooming as enjoyable as possible.

On Friday 26th February we will be holding our first ever Feedback Friday!  This is a time where your child will meet with their teacher to discuss their learning from the week and improve upon any targets or work completed.

You should have received an email with the time and code for your child’s session.  There will be no other Zoom lessons taking place on this day.

Throughout the day your child will be set four Friday Challenges to complete when not meeting with their teacher.  These are optional and you may prefer to look back at the previous videos of lessons or complete reading activities on this day instead.

The Friday Challenges for this week are:

Challenge 1

Natural material art challenge

Can you collect some natural materials when you next go on a walk outside such as leaves, stones and twigs and use them to create some art? You could stick your design on paper, or just create it on the floor. How many different designs can you make? Can you make a pattern, an animal, a house? What ideas can you come up with?

Challenge 2

Map Skills

Can you design your own map? Maybe it could be a treasure map. Or you could create a map of your local area. Maybe you could design your own map of your perfect place. You could make a map of your own theme park, or design the layout of your ideal home. We can't wait to see your ideas. You might want to label it, add pictures, use colour, add objects to your map to make it 3D... you can choose!

Challenge 3

Name game

What activities can you do which link to your name? Maybe you can try some of these, or think of some of your own?

How many things can you think of starting with the first letter of your name? Can you find 5 things in your house which also start with that letter? Can you create some artwork using the letters of your name, maybe to make a sign for your bedroom door? Can you think of a line of a poem for each letter of your name to create a poem about yourself?

Extra Challenge of the day

The tidy challenge!

Can you help tidy something up? Maybe it is a drawer, your bedroom, a toy box? Ask a grown up in your house or at school what you can do to help tidy. By helping to tidy, you are showing our core values of love and respect!

Miss Dillon will meet the children in assembly at 2:35pm to share their work from the challenges.  The code for the assembly is 945 3680 5072 and the passcode is the usual one beginning with a 7.

Opening on the 8th March 2021-  We are making plans for a full opening on the 8th March.  The arrangements for this will be sent out tomorrow via email and also on School Jotter.  We do not envisage any changes to the full opening in September and the year groups will continue to be a bubble.

Finally, we have been allocated a Winter Fund by the DFE.  This is to support families who are struggling due to the impact of COVID.  If you feel that you need some support or know a family who is unable to ask for support, please do let Terri Hope, our home school link advisor know via t.hope@fairfields.hants.sch.uk.

Have a wonderful evening and we look forward to seeing you all on Feedback Friday.

Best Wishes

Miss Kelly Dillon
