Update on School Opening 3

4 January 2021 (by admin)

Dear parents and carers,

Well that was quite an interesting announcement for us all!  This does mean that the school will be closed to all pupils from tomorrow and please ignore the three-page letter that I sent out previously today.  The school will be closed until at least the 15th February 2021.

We will now be asking for you to begin teaching using Pack A which was sent home last term.  Your child will need to complete work for two days, both independently and with your support.  We will then begin virtual teaching via Zoom on Thursday 7th January.  Please find the letter from the original pack which gives you information on the codes and work which needs to be completed.  We will also be updating the Zoom webpage over the next few days.

Year 2 and 6 parents will need to arrange to collect a new Pack A from the playground tomorrow between 1-3pm.  These will be named and placed on tables under the canopy.  Both of the gates will be open.

We will now begin the process of contacting parents of critical key workers and vulnerable children with the hope that they can attend school from Thursday 7th January onwards.  They will be accessing Zoom alongside other members of the year group in their classroom.  There will not be the alternative provision which was in place last year, due to the need for us to catch up the learning lost during this period.

Please could you ensure that you email us at admin@fairfields.hants.sch.uk if you are a critical worker and require a place at school.  We will also be asking for evidence that your work is critical to the pandemic and that both parents need to attend work.  Our aim is to keep the number of pupils in school to a minimum.  The deadline for this will be at 1pm on Tuesday 5th January.  This will then give us time to process the applications and also arrange the school for potentially Thursday morning.

Please could you also email us if you require a device for remote learning as we may be able to help you.

Finally, I am saddened that we have had to start the new year in this way.  The commitment from the staff today in the school was astounding and I know that they are also disappointed that we cannot open as usual.

I will update you throughout the week on what is happening and ensure that we are all ready for Thursday.

Thank you for your continued support.
