School Opening

29 May 2020 (by admin)

Dear Fairfields Community,

We are really looking forward to returning to a new normal on Monday 1st June.  The Prime Minister has confirmed that the five measures have been met and so we are ready to open for Foundation Stage, Year 1 and Year 6 pupils alongside the key worker children.

An email was sent last Friday informing you which bubble your child will be in.  Please try to remember this for Monday drop off and collection.

The playground has been zoned now and so it is important that you know which bubble your child is in and the time they are due to arrive at school.

We will be staggering the start and end times to give adults enough time to drop and collect their children.  Please can we ask that you keep to the times as the adult in charge of the bubble will be waiting for your child to arrive if you have told us they are returning to school.  If your child is unwell please call the school office and they will inform the adult so that they do not wait unnecessarily.

If you are persistently late we will need to talk about how this can be resolved as all adults will be in bubbles and we do not want children to cross over in the school.

We have allowed a longer drop off time on the first day to help.

Please read the following information carefully to help us with a smooth transition back to school.

Staff will be available in the playground wearing Hi-Vis to answer any questions.  Please avoid entering the school as social distancing is challenging in the front office.  There are post boxes available for you to drop off forms.

Equipment for School

Please remember to send your children to school in as much school uniform as you can get to fit and no open toe shoes.

They will not need their PE kit.

They will need a named water bottle as they will not be able to use a cup for hygiene reasons.

They can bring their own pencil case but we do have their own equipment for them.

Please also apply suncream before school as the weather is set to be sunny for the next week.  They may also wear a sun hat but not sunglasses.

Packed lunches will be provided for children in school.  Please ensure that you put money on their Scopay account to pay for this unless you are in FS, Year 1 and 2 or entitled to free school meals.  The sandwich choices will be cheese, ham or tuna.  Your child is also able to bring their own packed lunch into school.  We will take lunch choices in the classroom or at the drop off point.

Zoom Lessons

We will not be providing zoom lessons until the afternoon of the 1st June.  This is because the class teachers from all year groups will be settling the children into school and the new routine.  The key worker children have been split into individual year groups for 2,3,4 and 5 and the teachers will be taking responsibility for them on the first day.

Zoom lesson timings will be changing and so please check the web page for the new times and code.  The passcode will start with a 01 for next week and the same formula will apply.

Bootcamp sessions will not take place as these will be held in the playground for the children in school.

Dance sessions may continue and we will organize these after the first week back.

There will be a whole school assembly each day with Miss Dillon.  This will take place at 2:45pm and will last 15 minutes.  The children at home and at school can attend the assembly via Zoom and it will be an opportunity for us to get together as a school even if it is online!  The passcode for this meeting is the same as the original passcode set at the start of the lockdown.
